Listen to Cory's Shearwaters
From March to October, after dark and early in the morning, you can listen to the Cory's Shearwaters, go and meet them or simply fall asleep under the sound of their vocalizations.
In March, the shearers return to the Azores, having spent all winter at sea in the Southern Hemisphere. They return home for breeding.
The Azores have a very important role in the world conservation of this species, receiving each year the largest population of Cory's Shearwaters on the planet. At Morro de Castelo Branco this bird and its nests can be easily observed.
At Quinta da Meia Eira, lanterns are available for walking to Morro at night, where you can watch them and listen closely to the bustling colonies
Note: Never point a flashlight directly at a nest!
